Toni&Guy Sea Salt Texturising Spray: Review

Before I start I will just say, Yes...I am very late to the party when it comes to salt sprays. Sorry. 

This summer I've really been enjoying salt sprays. In the summer I feel the need to stay well away from styling tools, just because you'll have a lot more heat on your hair appose to in the winter...Obviously. Which is why I use salt sprays.  

The salt spray that I've really been enjoying is the 'Toni&Guy Sea Salt Texturising Spray'. I absolutely love the effect it gives! It makes your hair look messy, beachy and it gives it so much texture. It is so quick and easy to do! You literally just spray it in dry, give it a scrunch and you're good to go.

 Another thing I love about this particular salt spray is that It doesn't make your hair feel crunchy, which I find quite a few salt sprays do.

If you're looking for a new salt spray I'd highly recommend this one! I know a lot of people rave about the 'Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray' but the price is eye watering! Toni&Guy are so much more affordable and their products get the job done.

Review: LUSH's Shine So Bright Hair Treatment.

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure why I haven't already written this blog post...but better late than never.

Around Christmas time, I went a little bit crazy over the LUSH Christmas stock, so much that I still have a couple of 'Father Christmas Bath Ballistics' floating around my bathroom. Anyway, whilst picking out some of my favorites from the Christmas collection(on the website) I also decided to have a quick nosy around the hair treatments section. Nothing really stood out to me, until I saw a very over enthusiastic comment written under the 'LUSH Shine So Bright Split End Treatment'. It was only ten NZ dollars and this woman had claimed that it was some sort of holy grail miracle product, so I thought 'Meh, why not'.

When It arrived, I was shocked. It was the teeniest tiniest thing I had ever seen! And I instantly thought I had just wasted my money...but boy was I wrong! This product is incredible! I don't use it everyday, only when the ends of my hair are looking really dry and crispy. The smallest amount goes such a long way and I seriously can't believe how long it's lasted me. I've even gone out and bought a back up just in case I loose my first one.

If you have really dry and damaged hair, PLEASE try out this product! I have been swearing by it for so long now, so LUSH....please don't ever discontinue it. Thanks!

A Pop Of Color: Ombre.

Hello everyone!

As some of you know, for quite a while now I've been in constant battle with my hair! Although thankfully I've recently been able to tame it by getting it permanently straightened. But one other major flaws in my hair is what I like to call my 'Reverse Ombre'. What the heck is 'Reverse Ombre' you might ask? Well about two years ago now I made the courageous decision to dye my hair for the first time. My natural hair color is dark blonde/mousy brown, but I wanted a change....so I decided to dye my hair dark brown. 

I quite liked it at first but little did I know what a giant pain in the butt it was going to be. 

Personally, I feel that when girls with naturally brunette hair dye it blonde, their re growth doesn't start to look bad for a good while; but when girls who have naturally blonde hair dye it brunette, their re growth looks HORRIBLE! I feel like it almost looks like you have little grey/white hairs sprouting as the blonde re growth looks so light next to the dark brown, plus it feel like it takes FOREVER to grow back out. 

At the moment my hair doesn't look too bad. My re growth has grown about 4-5 inches but it doesn't look nearly as bad as it once was as it's slowly blending into the brown(dyed) ends of my hair. Although when I'm out and about in the sun, it is quite noticeable. 

So getting to the point...

I went out and bought a DIY Ombre kit which I've herd a lot of good reviews on recently, in the hope that if I'm feeling courageous again, I might dye the ends of my hair blonde. Just so I'm able to create a mousy brown to blonde Ombre instead of the mousy brown to dark brown 'reverse Ombre' I've got going on at the moment. 

Also one more thing I wanted to add. Lately, floating around the internet I've seen the trend of 'Colored Ombre' which I'm sure many of you would have already seen too. It's almost like a dip dye. Basically it's when you add a 'Non Human' or 'Unnatural' colored dye to the lower lengths of your hair. And I'm LOVING it! It's so tempting! Although I'm not sure my hair could withhold that amount of dye, especially after having the ends lightened.

Permanently Straightening.

Hello everyone!

I am SUPER excited at the moment. It may not seem very exhilarating to you, but for me...you have no idea.

Naturally, my hair is very 'unruly'. As a child I remember having blonde ringlets, but the older I got the crazier my hair became; so I turned to straightening it, which is why my hair is so damaged now. Getting it permanently straightened means a few things:

1. I wont have to deal with the frizz ball I once had.

2. I wont have to resort to straightening it everyday.

And 3. It wont take me a million years to get ready.

I'm not going to lie, getting your hair permanently straightened is a long and painful process. You have to sit in a chair for six hours straight. Endure the smell of the horrid chemicals they're putting on your head. Spend an hour constantly flinching when the straightening irons get too close to your ears, and...it isn't the cheapest hair treatment. But of course for me, it's 100% worth it! I can't remember the last time I woke up and DIDN'T scream at myself in the mirror, because I thought a troll was trying to eat my head...

What did I do whilst sitting in a chair for six hours you ask? Well, that's something I kept asking myself before I left the house...but it turns out there were a few things that kept me amused. A huge stack of magazines, and I know it's wrong to listen in on other peoples conversations, but I loved listening to the group of older women getting their perms done gossiping and chatting about their husbands; they were hilarious! Also a teacher from the secondary school I went to was getting her hair done opposite me..needless to say she didn't recognize me as she started bitching and swearing about all her students....Naughty! You shouldn't be swearing like that Miss! ;)

All in all, I'm so pleased with how my hair turned out! I love it! If you're thinking about getting your hair permanently straightened, I'd definitely recommend it! I'm going to attach some pictures of my hair. Please excuse the before picture, my hair was horrid! It was super frizzy and my re-growth looked gross!(Luckily when my hair was straightened, it also lightened slightly so my re-growth isn't as noticeable)

Review: Kerastase Curl Definition Shampoo And Deep Conditioner.

About a month ago I wrote a blog post after me and my mum had gone shopping, to show you all the glorious things that I picked up. So today I thought I'd write a review on one of those purchases...The Kerastase Curl Definition Shampoo And Deep Conditioner. 

This was one of my naughty purchases as it was tad pricey, but c'mon we should all be aloud to spoil ourselves every once in a while. Unfortunately I wasn't too impressed. I like to think its because I had such high expectations for it, but I've used it about six or seven times now and my hair really doesn't like it. 

First of all, I'm really not keen on the smell! Even though every time I've used it people are always commenting on how nice my hair smells, so that must just be a personal preference of mine. 

Ewwww mustard!!

Secondly, this isn't necessarily bad....but doesn't the color of it just like gross! almost like mustard? Again probably just a personal preference, because I'm absolutely revolted by mustard.

And lastly, I felt like it completely stripped my hair of it's natural oils, and left it feeling super dry. Recently I've also been using the 'Dove Damage Therapy Intensive Repair Shampoo and Conditioner', and without any hesitation I'd definitely pick using the Dove shampoo and conditioner over the Kerastase. 

I really did want to love this shampoo and conditioner, simply because I paid so much for it, but it really didn't impress me...And I'm definitely not one to complain but I don't think I'll be repurchasing this again.

My Favorite Haircare.

About a year ago, after a long night of reading review after review on different hair care, I was introduced to the TIGI S factor range. I had read so many amazing reviews on the products and completely fell in love, until I saw the semi-expensive price tag. I wasn't sure weather I could justify spending 35 pounds on a shampoo and conditioner. I was always a drugstore kind of girl when it came to hair care and never steered towards the salon products, but at the time my hair wasn't in the best state and I thought I'd treat myself.

When I purchased it, the first thing I noticed was that both the shampoo and conditioner smelt like strawberries and cream, as does the whole range which I later found out...YUM! I purchased the 'smoothing' shampoo and conditioner, and one year on I'm still addicted! It's still to this day my favorite shampoo and conditioner. It makes your hair feel amazing and also makes the ends look a lot less brittle...and of course my personal favorite part! It makes your hair smell good enough to eat! And I always find myself sniffing my hair, which must look a bit odd to other people..but I cant help myself!

As you can see I do have another 'favorite' shampoo and conditioner...The Herbal Essence 'Long term relationship' shampoo and conditioner. I like to call this one my favorite 'drugstore' hair care, just because it's about a quarter of the price of my TIGI S factor shampoo and conditioner, and I only use it because I don't want my hair to get to used to my higher end hair care, just in case I cant afford it.

I absolutely love trying out different drugstore hair care, but for a while there wasn't really one I got hooked on, until I tried this! The reason I bought it was because I was looking for a new shampoo and conditioner to try out, and I always love checking out the Herbal Essence range only because they all smell sooo good! I picked up the 'Long term relationship' shampoo and a little old lady with the most well looked after hair I've ever seen on an older woman may i just say, came up to me and said "Ohhh that stuff is amazing! I used to be a hair dresser and that's far better than at least half the products we had in the salon" and walked off again. A bit bizarre but I thought why not and added it to my basket.

Now I would like to thank that old lady, if she's reading this(which she probably isn't) Because it really is the best drugstore shampoo and conditioner I've ever used! Even better than some salon hair care of my mums that I've used. It's raspberry scented and smells absolutely amazing! Again...have to restrain myself for eating it! Also it claims to 'Help prevent split ends', and I can truly say that since I've been using it I've had a lot less split ends. The last thing I love about this shampoo and conditioner is that it doesn't completely strip your hair of its naturally oils which I find a lot of drugstore hair care does. I mean, it doesn't help hydrate your hair, but it doesn't dry it out either.

So there you have it, they are my two absolute favorite shampoos and conditioners! If you're on a budget and need some good hair care definitely give the Herbal Essence a go, otherwise if you like to go for the higher end option, the TIGI S factor range is incredible!
